Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is SteamVault free?+
Yes. Every feature — profiles, leaderboards, compare, suggestions, forums — is free with no paywall. If you want to chip in to cover server bills, there's a donate page.
Why is my profile not showing all my games?+
Steam only exposes achievements for games with achievement support. We also cap tracking at the 120 games with the most playtime to stay inside Vercel's function timeout. Recently played games are prioritised.
My profile is private — can I still use SteamVault?+
You need your Steam profile and “game details” set to Public for us to read your data. Steam's privacy controls live at Profile → Edit Profile → Privacy Settings.
How is rarity calculated?+
We use Steam's global achievement percentages. Ultra-rare is 0–5%, very-rare 5–15%, rare 15–30%, uncommon 30–50%, common 50%+.
How are Vault Points calculated?+
Each achievement awards points scaled by global rarity — rarer achievements are worth more. Your total drives leaderboard placement and your level/XP bar on the profile.
Why are some games marked as “story complete”?+
We try to detect a single signature story achievement per game using a mix of hardcoded overrides for big titles and keyword scoring for the rest. It's not perfect — let us know if a game looks wrong.
How often does data refresh?+
Profile data is fetched live from Steam each time it's loaded, then cached briefly to avoid hammering Steam's API. Game schemas and global rarity percentages are cached for an hour.
Can I delete my SteamVault profile?+
Yes — email dewald.schoonbee911@gmail.com with your SteamID64 and we'll purge your record within 30 days.
Are you affiliated with Steam?+
No. SteamVault is an independent project that uses the public Steam Web API. Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation.
